Dr Ableman is a GP who has worked in the Tri-cities for over 20 years. He has a full family practice and delivers babies at Royal Columbian Hospital. Circumcision is one of the services that he performs at his practice. This is a procedure that involves the surgical removal of the foreskin. As with all surgical procedures, it requires expertise by the doctor performing it, and I this is a service that he can offer with confidence and care that will set you, the parent at ease. Over the years I have recognized the need for this service within the community, and to my patients. There is no mistake that any baby undergoing this procedure will experience some degree of discomfort. Any parent that is told otherwise would be misinformed. His goal has been to employ an approach that provides an individualized stress free experience to both parents and infant The procedure that he performs is called the Mogan circumcision, because the device used is called the Mogan clamp The time required by the parent is approximately one hour. You will be shown a short video which describes the procedure, and thereafter a numbing cream will be placed in the pubic area. Shortly thereafter a freezing will be injected in the same area Once the freezing is working the procedure is performed. After the circumcision, some pain medication is given and the circumcised penis is looked at to make sure that there is no bleeding The family are then allowed to leave along with instructions and emergency contact information. The following day the baby is seen back in our office where the gauze that is wrapped around the circumcised penis is then removed.
